I moved to Parker Colorado in September 1993. I had lived in the Denver area in the 1970's and was looking for a more laid back lifestyle outside of the Denver Metro area. I stumbled across Parker by accident on my way to Colorado Springs one day. I drove by the Pinery Country Club, saw the golf course and pulled in for a look. I fell in love with the Pinery, with its rolling hills, pine trees, lake and open space. Two months later we were residents of Parker. At the time, Parker Road was a two lane road and "Downtown" Parker still had a hitching post for horses in front of the Warhorse Inn. Back then, the main subdivisions in Parker were: The Pinery, Stonegate, Cottonwood, Clarke Farms and Stroh Ranch. Within a few years Canterberry began to grow and a few years later we had Canterberry Golf Course which is now Black Bear Golf Course. Since then, Pradera has grown into a beautiful area with a private Country Club golf resort as well as the Colorado Golf Club which recently opened just North of the Pinery. As much growth as Parker has seen, it still remains a tight knit community with local festivals such as Parker Days in the summer and the Winter Carriage Festival. Parker is a major area for horse lovers, with the world renowned Colorado Horse Park which hosts major equestrian events every year and hosted the Olympic equestrian trials several years ago. Parker Colorado has it all, horse property, luxury home subdivisions, affordable housing, apartment communties as well as full service shopping and restaurant facilties. I would not live anywhere else.
